Do I need to have prior medical experience to enroll?

Do I need to have prior medical experience to enroll?

No. A high school diploma or GED is sufficient. Prior medical experience can be helpful, but it is not required. All clinical and technical skills are taught in the program.

There are mandatory live clinical and lab components. This includes performing EKGs on live persons and blood draws (venipunctures / capillary sticks). Specific numbers depend on which certifications you pursue (for example, extra clinical hours are required for phlebotomy or EKG Technician certification).

Graduates qualify for roles such as Patient Care Technician in hospitals, long-term care, clinics, or home health agencies. Entry-level salaries in Georgia typically start in the lower $30,000s, and increase with experience, shift differentials, certifications, and full-time work.

There are several options: state and federal grants, workforce funding (WIOA), MyCAA (if eligible), and payment plans may be available. Admissions or financial aid staff will help you explore eligibility and assist with applications.
